Army officers called on President Kiir to step down or face chaos!

A group of army officers in South Sudan has stepped forward warning President Salva Kiir of an unavoidable “chaotic situation” if he doesn’t leave the political scene peacefully.
The warning came in a letter sent recently by the group to President Kiir to step down or face consequences of imminent chaos that might cost him his job.
The group which called itself the ‘Patriotic Officers’ warned President Kiir of impending disaster if he doesn’t act quickly.
He was asked also to distance himself from some pro-NCP elements who are surrounding him which they believed to have enormous influence and caused division and confusion among the people of South Sudan.
The showdown came while discontent was swelling especially among some state actors and civilian who have been enduring condition of hardship without any solution on the horizon.
Recently, the ex-presidential advisor for military affairs Gen. Daniel Awet Akot urged Kiir to resign and hand over power to the minister for the presidential affairs, Nhial Deng Nhial.
In a meeting of Jieng Council of Elders, a non-state actor, Awet was quoted as saying President Kiir is ‘mentally incapacitated and cannot serve citizens of the young nation’.
Earlier, the senior presidential advisor, Kuol Manyany Juuk accused the ruling party, SPLM of failing to deliver services promised during the liberation struggle.
However, South Sudan has been struggling to recover from the impact of civil war which reduced physical infrastructure to zero ground, a conflict that wiped out hundreds of thousands of innocents’ lives and displaced millions of others internally and into exile.
South Sudan has effectively agreed to form a Transitional Government of National Unity last year, but certain parts still witness deadly violence because the join forces and implementation of the security arrangement still lag behind the schedule.
