A man suspected of having contracted “coronavirus” has been quarantined in Malakal town in Upper Nile State.

The incident Manager for Coronavirus at the Ministry of Health, Dr Angok Gordon revealed to media saying, the suspect is working with one of the humanitarian agencies in Malakal.

According to Dr Angok, the man reportedly was complaining of cough and cold, which were indicators of the new virus. He was immediately quarantined; his blood samples were taken and sent to Juba for further lab analysis.  They are yet to wait for the final results.

Dr Angok complained, however, of a lack of adequate facilities and properly trained staff, but according to him, measures have been taken to combat the virus.

Until recently, South Sudan was declared free of the virus, measures have been taken, including a ban on public gathering to ensure coronavirus doesn’t enter the country.
