Gen. Burhan says Museveni is the father and wise man of Africa!

The leader of Sudan Transitional Military Council Gen. Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan has described President Museveni as the ‘father and wise man of Africa’.

Gen. Burhan flattered Museveni that he has a lot of experiences of which they want to benefit from them.

This statement came during their meeting at the State Lodge in Mbale last Friday.

Museveni said, “The type of conflict and agitation that has been experienced in Sudan is dangerous because it scares away business and affects the livelihood of the people.”

The executive director of Advocates Coalitions for Development and Environment and a lecturer at Makerere University, Dr Arthur Bainomugisha, described Gen al-Burhan’s visit as a move to consolidate his power in Sudan.

Dr Bainomugisha said, “I have a lot of reservations on the Sudanese military council. I think they are trying to consolidate power by building support within the regional leadership.”

Burhan’s visit to Kampala, however, came following the recent agreement between the military council and the opposition on a power-sharing in Sudan.

The military Council in Sudan overthrew President Omar al-Bashir in April and confined him following sit-in demonstrations at the ministry of defence headquarters.

But the protests have continued with demonstrators demanding that the military council should hand over power to the civilians.
