Security Council renews arms embargo against South Sudan

The UN Security Council has resolved to maintain arms embargo on South Sudan for another one year.
In a draft resolution forwarded by the United State; the fifteen members of the UN Security Council passed the draft resolution any problems.
Russia and China, however, abstained but they did not use veto power to overturn it.
Also, three other African countries, Equatorial Guinea, Ivory Coast and South Africa abstained. Out of 15, ten members met the threshold of ten votes. Thus, the resolution got passed.
It is worth mentioning that, the embargo which was imposed since last year includes, a freeze of assets and travel ban against some key figures involved in human rights violations.
