Unconfirmed reports from South Sudan indicate that President Salva Kiir Mayardit has put Akol Koor Kuc, Director General of the National Security Services (NISS) under house arrest.
The news said Kiir was upset about the way his security apparatus handle the latest crisis in the country and might likely dissolve the NISS’ set up.
At the National Security meeting chaired by President Kiir himself and attended by all the heads of vital security departments last week; Kiir expressed worries that the execution of Aggrey Idiri and Dong Luak might lead to the international condemnation against his leadership and eventual pursuit by the ICC.
Reports said Kiir was unhappy with the Director General of ‘NIS’ Akol Koor Kuc and other key figures, especially following the Reports in which his name popped up.
Kiir questioned NISS suspicious activities as deplorable and coup in the making. On the other hand, the disturbing news of the upcoming popular youth uprising and ways to handle it was also discussed in length.
News however said, The roots leading to vital installations, including John Garang’s Mausoleum, Ministries road, Suk Customs, Jebel Market, Konyo-Konyo, El gyaada Aama, Bilpam HQs, Luri Camp, and Yei road were all manned by heavy armed troops to secure the capital from what they have described as an unacceptable anarchy.
