Abyei is a contested area between Ngok Dinka and Misseriya Arab beyond the independence of South Sudan.

The United Nations’ Security Council established UNISFA to observe peace, patrol the disputed zone and protect innocent civilian of both ethnic backgrounds from malicious attacks.
