Juba, PR, MP 20 Oct. 2019
The leader of SPLM-IO Dr Riek Machar told the visiting members of the security council in Juba this morning that he won’t be part of the upcoming government if the pending issues remain unresolved.
Formation of the national army and the security sector reform are still lagging behind in addition to the critical issue of the numbers of the states and their boundaries.
They threaten peaceful coexistence in the country. He said
Machar described the situation, however, as fragile, expressing fear that it might explode if there are no solutions to these problems before the formation of the government of national unity.
President Salva Kiir has been dragging his feet to step forward and resolve these problems which remain challenging to the peaceful resolution in the country.
The members of the Security Council, however, urged both sides to commit to the revitalised agreement by making further compromises for peace in South Sudan.
