The face to face meeting between President Salva Kiir and his rival, the SPLM-IO leader Dr Riek Machar was scheduled to take place within two days’ time framework.
The second round, however, got adjourned to tomorrow due to the busy schedule of President Kiir with other priorities according to the presidential press statement on Tuesday.
Kiir and Machar had a first-round in which they discussed security arrangement and the number of the states including their internal boundaries.
The meeting of the two principals has agreed on the deployment of all the forces before the formation of the transitional unity government coming November, but kept silent on the issue of the states.
The second round which will discuss the implementation of the peace deal and political arrangement during the interim period will be expected tomorrow.
The South Sudan Civil Society Groups have described this meeting as positive and a sign of commitment to the peace deal.
Meanwhile, IGAD expresses happiness saying this will encourage both parties to build measures of trust and confidence.
This meeting came following the last gathering in Rome where Pope Francis kissed their feet to reconcile one another.
It’s worth mentioning that Machar fled on foot under heavy gunfire following fierce clashes in July 2016 which led to the collapse of the previous peace deal.
